Blaurackenflügel, ca 1512, Albrecht Dürer / Blauracke wings, 1512 by Albrecht Dürer (Watercolour and bodycolour, heightened with opaque white)
Currently on display in Albertina Museum Vienna, this work by Albrecht Dürer ranks amongst the rarest work in graphic art ever.
If you love graphic art or any art for that matter, then you want to see this at close range. It is so mesmerising that it forced me to stare at it for more than half an hour. The detail is exquisite, bearing in mind that it was drawn by hand in or around 1512.
See ALBERTINA Museum Wien for past, current & future exhibitions.
If you are an art lover visiting Vienna (silly, as Vienna is all about sniffing culture) then a trip to Albertina Museum is definitely worth the effort. One can simply overdose on a huge art collection for a measly priced ticket. Recommended.
